Recently I had the honor of being a speaker during a Black history program at the church I grew up in. The funny thing about going to a place where people have known you for most of your life is that you have this strange sense of living in the past, present, and future. It was only fitting that my presentation focused on young people who were making a difference in their communities. Throughout my life I’ve always been surrounded by people who saw potential in me and were excited about a future neither of us had seen. As I’ve gotten older I’ve been fortunate to experience these same feelings for people that I know and don’t know. In honor of Black History Month I wanted to share with you examples of three amazing your people who have transitioned their passion to purpose and serve as great models for us all.
